(BB) ‘Before bambino’ – the outdoors and me were quite simply work colleagues who avoided each other at the water fountain, we remained polite, but I never accepted his friend request, because I was all about the indoors. The indoors was my sanctuary. It was quiet, it was clutter free, it had a neutral palette and I think I used to listen to music and have conversations, but who knows?! Three years later and an Ewok dog too, the outdoors and me are now BFFs. The outdoors is my sanctuary. The space, the wild, the fresh air, the almost quiet and the promise of adventure/toddler meltdown distractions.
Lighthouse Clothing recently contacted me and the kid to see if we would fancy featuring some of their wares and because we had a similar ethos for dissatisfying scenarios (You know, when even Haribo won’t fix the f**king problem) I of course said “Heck yah”. Also as soon as I heard ‘waterproof’ I was in, because A.) Weather and B.) Wipe-ability factor for snot, urine (not mine), mushed banana etc. and C.) They are a new brand who want people to have adventures and I am all about the adventure, because according to the movie ‘UP’ it is out there and it is where the magic happens.
This weekend we are all sick or recovering so our adventure was a good old English country walk, we needed to blow the cobwebs away and breathe in some fresh air, kick some crunchy leaves and play again. I love the weekends where you have no plans, no time restrictions and life slows down just enough for you to look up and feel grateful. Today I feel grateful that we had an adventure, that the sun was shining and that we were altogether.
What are you grateful for?
