Jay Z said it best when he said “All I need in this life of sin is me and my girlfriend”, but I am going to swap sin for gin and girlfriend to girlfriends. Hova just gets it.
Girlfriends, gal pals, mum mates, girl gang, insta mums, the squad – whatever you and your crew call yourselves AKA women. These women will listen to your vagina monologues face to face, over an insta story or in a WhatsApp group dedicated to your chin hair and these women are important to your survival, because baby this ain’t called a ‘hood’ for nothing! Welcome to the mother-hood, where no one has a f**king clue what they are doing, but we have plasters, food in a pouch and we carry and by carry I mean fruit shoots. (lethal…deadly if given to a toddler after 4pm).
You need a mum squad, women who have your back and will excitedly check that weird mole on it whilst they are there. I have spoken about the importance of mum mates before and I do half go on about it over on various social media platforms, but seriously it is the women in your life that can and do sort out the serious s**t in your life, whether that is buying underwear that is not grey or if you are dealing with a broccoli infused tantrum – women have the key, the answer and they will give it to you if you ask.
On the daily I have women I call, send weird pictures to, sing at, Skype, snapchat (yarp – down with the kidz – @natashabailie gurrrllll) and of course squeeze in the flesh, but I need women. In my life, my daily existence, helping me make decisions from what to cook for dinner to how I should feel about Trump being President. They keep me in the loop… you should’ve seen my phone when Beyonce broke the internet with news of twins! They know how I like my coffee, the name of my kid and Mulberry handbags, they understand me and that is worth more than anything. They understand when you flake, when you cancel, when you say “nah”, when you say “I’m too tired” and they are the first to get the pom poms out when you achieve a goal or overcome a hurdle, even if that hurdle is getting green stuff in the small human. It is exciting and life affirming to have women in your life who are so possessively protective over you and you them and if you’re reading this and you have a vagina, look after the next one, because us vaginas need to stick together (sounded better in my head, but I am leaving it here).
